"I first thought I could play at the college level in the seventh grade," said Carlini. "That's when I received my first interest letter. This made me want to work harder and achieve more."

"This was the first time I'd medaled at AAUs, and at first, after losing in the semis, I was upset," she said. "But when my team received its medals, I was so proud to have made it that far."

"I expect we will go farther than usual because all of the girls have played club in the offseason and have improved tremendously," Carlini said in an interview from early September. "We have great sideout serve receive and we can serve aggressively as well."

"I'm so excited to be able to play at the highest possible level and really see what I am able to accomplish when I get into college." said Carlini. "The recruiting process was easy for me because I knew exactly where I wanted to go."
