She has volunteered locally on behalf of the Geneva Police Department, the Illinois Math and Science Academy and as a youth volleyball coach.
About playing while in high school
"I first thought I could play at the college level in the seventh grade," said Carlini. "That's when I received my first interest letter. This made me want to work harder and achieve more."
About finishing third with club team Sports Performance 16 Elite in the AAU Youth Tournament
"This was the first time I'd medaled at AAUs, and at first, after losing in the semis, I was upset," she said. "But when my team received its medals, I was so proud to have made it that far."
About winning the state title...
"I expect we will go farther than usual because all of the girls have played club in the offseason and have improved tremendously," Carlini said in an interview from early September. "We have great sideout serve receive and we can serve aggressively as well."
About what she thinks makes her a better player
"I think my biggest strength is my passion for the game and my desire and intensity to want to win," she said. "I'm one of the most competitive people you'll ever meet and I'd like to think that is one of my strengths."
About playing in college
"I'm so excited to be able to play at the highest possible level and really see what I am able to accomplish when I get into college." said Carlini. "The recruiting process was easy for me because I knew exactly where I wanted to go."
Lauren on Jordan Burgess
"She's just a competitor and one of the smartest people on a volleyball court," Carlini said. "She demands attention of everyone with her play.
She doesn't want anyone to get in her way."
"Burgess is just amazing," said Carlini of the former Berkeley Prep (Tampa, Fla.) standout. "She's phenomenal."

Lauren signed with the Wisconsin Badgers committing to play in the Big 10 Conference, one of the top 5 conferences in Division I.
